(5) (Then when they had finished each his part in the deeds of creation, they chose distinctly each his separate realm.) He who was the evil of them both (chose the evil), thereby working the worst of possible results, but the more bounteous spirit chose the (Divine) Righteousness; (yea, He so chose) who clothes upon Himself the firm stones of heaven (as His robe). And He chose likewise them who content Ahura with actions, which (are performed) really in accordance with the faith .

(2) For the six qualifying or fountain Spirits generated the seventh Nature-Spirit before the Times of the Wrath, in the Place of this World, very meekly and pleasantly, as is now done in Heaven, and not so much as the least Spark of Wrath or Anger rose up therein.

(25) And thus it is that man doth speed his way thereafter upwards through the Harmony. To the first zone he gives the Energy of Growth and Waning; unto the second [zone], Device of Evils [now] de-energized; unto the third, the Guile of the Desires de-energized; unto the fourth, his Domineering Arrogance, [also] de-energized; unto the fifth, unholy Daring and the Rashness of Audacity, de-energized; unto the sixth, Striving for Wealth by evil means, deprived of its aggrandizement; and to the seventh zone, Ensnaring Falsehood, de-energized.

(10) Through the action of this (His) Good Mind (as he works his grace within us) the benevolently wise One declared a result as its fruit, He knowing the bountiful Piety, the creatrix of righteous beings . These all, O Mazda Ahura! in Thy Kingdom (are 'helps to our progress') for they smite (our tyrants) with fear .

(91) The astringent or harsh Quality in the Spirit that went forth, kindled the astringent or harsh Quality which was in the Place of its Region, or in Nature, viz. in the seventh qualifying or fountain Spirit, and ruled powerfully in the astringent Quality, in the Salitter; and that the astringent Quality in the Salitter would not have, but strove with the sweet Water against this Spirit; but all would not help, the Storm grew hotter and hotter, the longer the greater, till at length the astringent or harsh Quality of the Salitter was kindled.

(42) Then his seven qualifying or fountain Spirits thought they would elevate and kindle themselves, and so they also would be as fair, glorious, and mighty, as the animated or soulish Spirit, and thereby would domineer, by their own Power and Authority, in the whole Court, Circumference, Dominion, or Extent, as a new God.

(43) therefore it is that all seven Spirits are in full Power, every one of them has the Reins in its Hand, that it may hold in and check the generated Spirit, from triumphing any higher than is fit for it.

(2) Aye, (that blessedness, which is the) best (creation) of this most bounteous spirit, Ahura Mazda will bring forth in action with words from the mouth and tongue of His Good Mind (within His seers), and by the two hands of Âramaiti (His Piety as she lives within the soul). And by such wise (beneficence is) He the father of the righteous Order (within our worship and our lives).

(4) (But this Thy bounteous spirit doth not alone bestow rewards and blessings on the good.) The wicked (foemen of the Faith) are harmed, and from (the motives which move) that bounteous spirit (of Thine own), O Mazda ! but not thus the saints. (And yet the ruler's pride would ever slight the righteous.) The feeble man alone stands free to give in kindly obligation to Thy saint, but having wealth and ruling power, the evil (man) is (at the service) of the wicked, and for much .

(4) (But e’er these helpers come to me, all rests as yet in gloom.) The evil man is holding back those who are the bearers of the Righteous Order from progress with the Kine, (from progress with the sacred cause) within the region, or the province , he, the evil governor, endowed with evil might , consuming life with evil deeds. Wherefore, whoever hurls him from his power, O Mazda! or from life, stores for the Kine in sacred wisdom shall he make .

(23) The region of air (e) is a partial exception to this order. While air is close to the light and filled with beautiful spirits, it is also the habitation of Beelzebub, the Evil Spirit of the air, with his legion of elemental demons. Upon the subtle element of air are impressed the influences of the stars; the thoughts, words, and deeds of man; and a myriad of mysterious influences from the various planes of Nature. Man inhales these impressions, and they produce diverse effects upon his mind. In air are suspended also the seed germs by which water is impregnated and made capable of bringing forth forms of organic and inorganic life. The grotesque figures seen in crystal caves and frost pictures upon windows are caused by these aerial impressions. While the air elementals are great and wise, they are treacherous and confused because amenable to both good and evil impressions. The mighty elemental beings who inhabit the watery light fire of the region X cannot be deceived by the spirits of darkness. They love the creatures of the waters, for the watery element (d) proceeded from the fiery water (X). Mortal man cannot endure the society of these fiery spirits, but gains wisdom from them through the creatures of the waters in which they continually mirror themselves. Figure 59 represents this solar system, with W and X as the locality of the Garden of Eden.

(109) when this was done, then the qualifying or fountain Spirits became very fierce and vehemently struggling, and the astringent Spirit, as the strongest, in the seventh Nature-Spirit, drew very terribly together the Fabrick and Effects of the other five, from whence the bitter Earth and Stones came to be, but were not yet driven together, but moved in the whole Deep.
