(10) All higher numbers can be reduced to one of the original ten numerals, and the 10 itself to 1. Therefore, all groups of numbers resulting from the translation of names of deities into their numerical equivalents have a basis in one of the first ten numbers. By this system, in which the digits are added together, 666 becomes 6+6+6 or 18, and this, in turn, becomes 1+8 or 9. According to Revelation, 144,000 are to be saved. This number becomes 1+4+4+0+0+0, which equals 9, thus proving that both the Beast of Babylon and the number of the saved refer to man himself, whose symbol is the number 9. This system can be used successfully with both Greek and Hebrew letter values.

(33) James Morgan Pryse also notes that according to this method of figuring, the Greek term ἡ φρην, which signifies the lower mind, has 666 as its numerical equivalent. It is also well known to Qabbalists that Ἰησους, Jesus, has for its numerical value another sacred and secret number--888. Adding the digits of the number 666 and again adding the digits of the sum gives the sacred number--9 the symbol of man in his unregenerate state and also the path of his resurrection.

(6) And filled with joy they said: "Now we must make our chicha within the next three days. (27) But whether Lucifer has done rightly, in that he has awakened and stirred up the fierceness in the Salitter of God, whence this world is become stinging, venomous, thorny, rocky, envious and evil, false or wicked, let the attorneys, proctors, advocates and defenders of Lucifer answer, and plead and justify it if they can; if not, then this third bitter, stinging, venomous spirit shall be condemned also. (26) But the death of the earth, and the wrath therein, should be lord Lucifer's eternal house, after the accomplishing of the new birth or geniture. In the meanwhile lord Lucifer should lie captive in the darkness in the deep above the earth; and there he now is, and may very shortly expect his portion.

(3) And after the completion of the seven years, which he had completed there, seven years exactly, and in the second month, on the seven- teenth day (of the month), the serpent came and approached the woman, and the serpent said to the woman, " Hath God commanded you, saying, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden ? "

(28) And now the whole world of creatures born alive, and things that grow, revolves in sevens. The first-born princes of the angels, who have the greatest power, are seven. The mathematicians also say that the planets, which perform their course around the earth, are seven; by which the Chaldeans think that all which concerns mortal life is effected through sympathy, in consequence of which they also undertake to tell things respecting the future.

(5) Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.
