(25) now when this is done, then the Spirit is angry, which has opened the Gates, because none will go OUT and IN at its Doors any more, and then it flings the Door-posts into the Abyss, and then there is no more Time at all. Those that are within, remain within; and those that are without, remain without. AMEN. Now it may be asked, What are the Stars? Answer.

(94) And the first heaven shall depart and pass away, And a new heaven shall appear, And all the powers of the heavens shall give sevenfold light.

(4) The sorrowful departure of the Gods from men takes place; bad angels only stay, who mingled with humanity will lay their hands on them, and drive the wretched folk to every ill of recklessness,—to wars, and robberies, deceits, and all those things that are opposed to the soul’s nature. Then shall the Earth no longer hold together; the Sea no longer shall be sailed upon; nor shall the Heaven continue with the Courses of the Stars, nor the Star-course in Heaven. The voice of every God shall cease in the [Great] Silence that no one can break; the fruits of Earth shall rot; nay, Earth no longer shall bring forth; and Air itself shall faint in that sad listlessness. XXVI

(25) But thus saith the Spirit; as soon as the Fierceness overcomes the Opposition of Love in this World, then the Fire kindles itself, and then there is no more Time in this World.

(64) That Part which it here has comprehended in its Departure, that is now its eternal, permanent, incessant Dwelling-house, and from thence it can never get; for there is a great 'Cliff between them and the other,' as Christ speaks of the rich Man. [† Luke 16. 26.]

(2) "And from this hour onwards no one will be able to enter into the Light and no one be able to go forth. For at the completion of the time of the number of the perfect souls, before I have set fire to the world, in order that it may purify the æons and the veils and the firmaments and the whole earth and also all the matters which are on it, mankind will be still existing.

(67) this signifies, that when God created Heaven and Earth, and all the Creatures, he nevertheless remained in his Divine, Eternal, Almighty Seat, and never went away from it at all, and that HE alone is ALL. The last Pressure signifies the Sharpness of his Spirit, whereby in a Moment he effects all in his whole Body.

(77) And after a little he adds: "And when the whole world fades, And vanished all the abyss of ocean's waves, And earth of trees is bare; and wrapt in flames, The air no more begets the winged tribes; Then He who all destroyed, shall all restore."

(2) It came to pass then, when Jesus had reached the heaven, after three hours, that all the powers of the heaven fell into agitation, and all were set in motion one against the other, they and all their æons and all their regions and all their orders, and the whole earth was agitated and all they who dwell thereon. And all men who are in the world fell into agitation, and also the disciples, and all thought: Peradventure the world will be rolled up. And all the powers in the heavens ceased not from their agitation, they and the whole world, and all were moved one against the other, from the third hour of the fifteenth day of the moon of Tybi until the ninth hour of the morrow. And all the angels and their archangels and all the powers of the height, all sang praises to the interiors of the interiors, so that the whole world heard their voices, without their ceasing till the ninth hour of the morrow.

(126) But when the Dawning or Morning Redness shall shine from the East to the West, or from the Rising to the Setting, then already Time will be no more; but the SUN of the Heart of God rises or springs forth, and, *RA. RA. R. P. will be pressed in the Wine-press without the City, and therewith to R. P. [See the Collection of his Letters. Letter 23. v. 12.]

(70) then the Sun and Stars will return again to their first Place, and will pass away in such a Form or Manner, for the Heart and Light of God shall give Light and shine again in the Corporeity, that is, in the Body of this World, and replenish or fill all. And

(73) And there goes forth from all the Stars the Power which is in every Star into the Deep: And the Power, Heat, and Shining of the Sun, goes likewise into the Deep. And

(4) For its beginning doth depend on Aeon, as Aeon doth on God. Now Genesis and Time, in Heaven and upon the Earth, are of two natures. In Heaven they are unchangeable and indestructible, but on the Earth they're subject unto change and to destruction. Further, the Aeon's soul is God; the Cosmos' soul is Aeon; the Earth's soul, Heaven. And God in Mind; and Mind, in Soul; and Soul, in Matter; and all of them through Aeon. But all this Body, in which are all the bodies, is full of Soul; and Soul is full of Mind, and Mind of God. It fills it from within, and from without encircles it, making the All to live. Without, this vast and perfect Life [encircles] Cosmos; within, it fills [it with] all lives; above, in Heaven, continuing in sameness; below, on Earth, changing becoming.

(25) And by this now, in the Creation of this World, the Stars and the Elements, as also the Creatures, tremble and burn, out of which exits also the House of Death and of Hell, also eternal, base, loathsome Habitation for the Kingdom of Lucifer, and for all wicked Men. This Quality generates,

(60) For this is the Eternal Mother of Nature, of which Heaven, Earth, Stars, Ele-ments, Angels, Devils, Men, Beasts, and all have their Being; and therein ALL stands.

(173) Therefore also the Creatures, as Beasts, Fowls, or Birds, Fishes and Worms, in this World, are not created to an eternal Being, but to a transitory one, as the Figures in Heaven also pass away.

(37) Timaeus: For simultaneously with the construction of the Heaven He contrived the production of days and nights and months and years, which existed not before the Heaven came into being. And these are all portions of Time; even as “Was” and “Shall be” are generated forms of Time, although we apply them wrongly, without noticing, to Eternal Being. For we say that it “is” or “was” or “will be,” whereas, in truth of speech, “is” alone

(2) Now Time’s distinguished on the Earth by quality of air, by variation of its heat and cold; in Heaven by the returnings of the stars to the same spots, the revolution of their course in Time. And while the Cosmos is the home of Time, it is kept green [itself] by reason of Time’s course and motion. Time, on the other hand, is kept by regulation. Order and Time effect renewal of all things which are in Cosmos by means of alternation.

(68) Consider this Similitude: Out of the Sun and Stars go forth the Elements, and they make in the Salitter of the Earth a living Spirit, and the Stars remain in their Circle or Sphere, and that Spirit likewise gets the Quality of the Stars.

(11) The following statement from a modern text book may serve to point to the difference between the conception of Pure Duration, and Time: "Pure Duration is conceived without regard to the motions of changes in things. Time on the contrary is the sensible measure of any portion of duration, often marked by particular phenomena, as the apparent revolution of the celestial bodies, the rotation of the earth on its axis, etc. Our conception of Time originates in that of motions; and particularly in those regular and equable motions carried on in the heavens, the parts of which, from their perfect similarity to each other, are correct measures of the continuous and successive quantity called Time, with which they are conceived to co-exist. Time, therefore, may be defined as, The perceived number of successive movements. Time, based upon the movements of the celestial bodies, or the earth, is frequently measured by instruments based upon such movements, such as watches, clocks, sun-dials, etc." We are also conscious of the passage of Time by changes in our mental states, our thoughts, our mental images, etc., both in the waking state or the state of dreams. Without changes in the outside world, represented to our consciousness by perceptions of such changes, or without changes in our mental states, Time would not exist for us. It thus follows that given an Eternal Changeless Reality, for whom and by whom no "outside world" has been or is manifested; and which is wrapped in an unconscious and dreamless sleep, such as is pictured in the First Aphorism; for such a Reality there could exist no Time—no Time would present itself—Timelessness would abide, until Change began once more.
