(3) There is no duty for me to do in the three worlds. There is nothing unattained or to be attained for me. And yet I am also engaged in work.

(68) For Christ saith in the Gospel [John v. 17], I work, and my Father works also. And he meaneth this very touching and working, in that every power goeth forth from him, and generateth the Holy Ghost, and in the Holy Ghost all the powers are already clearly stirred, by the going forth of the Father.

(3) No one can live even for a moment without doing work. Everyone without his will is made to do work by the qualities born of Prakriti.

(2) O Arjuna! Work with attachment is far inferior to nishkama karma. Therefore seek refuge in desireless action with equanimity of mind. Those who work for fruits and rewards are wrecked.

(3) O Arjuna! Works other than those performed for the sake of sacrifice (Yajna) binds this world. So perform work for sacrifice without attachment.

(83) Help yourself, my son, (by) not proceeding with things in which there is no profit.

(8) But seeing somewhat is lent me from the Grace of the Power [or divine Virtue] of God, that I might know the Way to Paradise; and seeing it behoves every one to work the Works of God, in which he stands; of which God will require an Account from every one, what he has done in the Labour of his Day's Work in this World; and will require the Work (which he gave every one to do) with Increase, and will not have them empty; or else he will have that unprofitable Servant to be bound Hand and Foot, and cast into Darkness; where he must be fain to work, yet in the Anguish, and in the Forgetting of the Daylabour which was given him to do here, [or of the Talent which he had received here,] wherein he was found an unprofitable Servant; therefore I will not neglect my Day-labour, but will labour as much as I can on the Way.

(15) He established workers and servants, assisting in what he will do and what he will say, for in every place where he worked he left his countenance in his beautiful name, effecting and speaking of the things which he thinks about.

(3) These worlds would perish if I do not perform work; I would be the cause of the confusion of species and the destruction of these beings.

(43) And tell my father that I am still alive, and ye, behold, ye see that the Lord hath made me as a father to Pharaoh, and ruler over his house and over all the land of Egypt.

(7) I do it to try whether I may, with the entrusted talent, happily get gain of usury, and not return it to my God and Creator again singly and empty, without improvement, like the lazy servant who had stood idle in the vineyard of the Lord, and would require his wages without having laboured at all.
