(20) Because of you salvation has come to us, from you comes salvation.

(103) And yet when ye die the sinners speak over you: "As we die, so die the righteous, And what benefit do they reap for their deeds?

(111) It is not so to be understood that my reason is greater or higher than that of all other men living; but I am the Lord's twig or branch, and am a very mean and little spark of his; he may set me where he pleaseth, I cannot hinder him in that.

(27) We praise you because we are saved and we always glorify you.

(16) But why does God so? Of his great love and mercy towards all people and nations, and to shew hereby that now is near at hand the time of the restitution of all whatsoever is lost, wherein men shall behold and enjoy the perfection, and move in the pure light and deep knowledge of God.

(54) I do not write this for my own glory; for my glory stands in my hope of that which is to come: I am a poor sinner as well as other men, and I also ought to come before this glass.

(5) But ye--ye have not been steadfast, nor done the commandments of the Lord, But ye have turned away and spoken proud and hard words With your impure mouths against His greatness. Oh, ye hard-hearted, ye shall find no peace.

(1) And I shall not forsake them nor fail them ; for I am the Lord their God."

(95) Ye have committed blasphemy and unrighteousness, And have become ready for the day of slaughter, And the day of darkness and the day of the great judgement.

(89) When thou dost so, then the world mocketh thee, and thou art a fool to them. But bear this cross patiently, and let not the imprisoned spirit get out of prison again, but trust in God, and he will set upon thee the crown of the divine joy.

(5) Dost thou boast thyself to be a Christian, why dost thou not then believe his Word, when he said; He would be with us to the End of the World; and said moreover, He would give us his Body for Meat, and his Blood for Drink; also his Body is Meat indeed, and his Blood is Drink indeed? What do you understand by this, an absent [Christ?] O thou poor sick Adam, why art thou gone again out of Paradise? Has not Christ brought thee in again, why didst thou not stay there? Dost thou not see, that the Apostles of Christ and their Successors (who dwelt in the Paradise of Christ with their Souls) did great Wonders? Wherefore art thou again entered into the Spirit of this World? Dost thou suppose that thou shalt find the Paradise with thy Reason in thy Art? Dost thou not think it has another Principle, and that thou shalt not find it, except thou art born anew?

(2) In similar fashion our salvation depends upon our knowing and recognizing the Chief Good which is God Himself. I have a capacity in my soul for taking in God entirely. I am as sure as I live that nothing is so near to me as God. God is nearer to me than I am to myself; my existence depends on the nearness and presence of God. He is also near things of wood and stone, but they know it not. If a piece of wood became as aware of the nearness of God as an archangel is, the piece of wood would be as happy as an archangel. For this reason man is happier than the inanimate wood, because he knows and understands how God is near him. His happiness increases and diminishes in proportion to the increase and diminution in his knowledge of this.

His happiness does not arise from this that God is near him, and in him, and that He possesses God; but from this, that he knows the nearness of God, and loves Him, and is aware that "the Kingdom of God is near." So, when I think on God's Kingdom, I am compelled to be silent because of its immensity, because God's Kingdom is none other than God Himself with all His riches. God's Kingdom is no small thing: we may survey in imagination all the worlds of God's creation, but they are not God's Kingdom. In whichever soul God's Kingdom appeareth, and which knoweth God's Kingdom, that soul needeth no human preaching or instruction; it is taught from within and assured of eternal life. Whoever knows and recognizes how near God's Kingdom is to him may say with Jacob, "God is in this place, and I knew it not."

(9) But since I perceive that my eternal salvation hangeth upon this [i.e. the getting of new life and power] and that through my negligence [in case I were negligent], the gates of the light would be closed against me, which [light] is yet the firmament of my heaven wherein my soul hideth from the stormings of the devil, and which [light and heaven] also I won with great toil and hard assaults, through the love of God and by the breakingthrough of my Redeemer and King, Jesus Christ, therefore am I willing to let God have his way and take captive my fleshy reason.

(9) I am alone the enjoyer and the Lord of all sacrifices, but they do not know Me in reality, hence they fall.

(105) I swear unto you, that in heaven the angels remember you for good before the glory of the Great One: and your names are written before the glory of the Great One.

(7) But those men of good works whose sin has come to an end, worship Me steadfast in vows, freed from the delusive pairs of opposites.

(54) And this will happen to that man who hath not entered, or refuseth to enter in by the right Way and the right Door (which is Christ, as we have said), and imagineth that he would or could come by any other way to the highest truth. He may perhaps dream that he hath attained thereunto, but verily he is in error. And our witness is Christ, who declareth: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.”59 A thief, for he robbeth God of His honour and glory, which belong to God alone; he taketh them unto himself, and seeketh and purposeth himself. A murderer, for he slayeth his own soul, and taketh away her life, which is God. For as the body liveth by the soul, even so the soul liveth by God. Moreover, he murdereth all those who follow him, by his doctrine and example. For Christ saith: “I came down from heaven, not to do Mine own will, but the will of Him that sent Me.”60 And again: “Why call ye Me Lord, Lord?”61 as if he would say, it will avail you nothing to Eternal life. And again: “Not every one that saith unto Me Lord, Lord, shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in Heaven.”62 But He saith also: “If thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.”63 And what are the commandments?

(58) Blessed are ye, ye righteous and elect, For glorious shall be your lot.

(28) Now we shall glorify you that we be saved to eternal salvation.

(5) But why are you not helped when persecuted? say they. What wrong is done us, as far as we are concerned, in being released by death to go to the Lord, and so undergoing a change of life, as if a change from one time of life to another?
