(12) And his father said unto him, " I also know it, my son, but what shall I do with a people who have made me to serve before them ?

(4) He (knowing that his father had promised to give up all that he possessed, and therefore his son also) said to his father: 'Dear father, to whom wilt thou give me?' He said it a second and a third time. Then the father replied (angrily): 'I shall give thee unto Death.'

(18) And he said, " God will provide for himself a sheep for a burnt-offering, my son." And he drew near to the place of the mount of God.

(43) And he said unto them : < Not so, the man with whom I find, him only shall I take as a servant, and ye will return in peace unto your house."

(12) And he said, " Shall I return unto Ur of the Chal- dees who seek my face that I may return to them, or am I to remain here in this place? The right path before Thee prosper it in the hands of Thy servant thathe may fulfil (it) and that I may not walk in the deceitfulness of my heart, O my God."

(26) And now, my son, obey my voice in that which I command thee : Go to thy flock and fetch me two good kids of the goats, and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth, and thou shalt bring (it) to thy father thathe may eat and bless thee before the Lord before he die, and that thou mayst be blessed."

(26) And Jacob went in to his father and said : " I am thy son : I have done according as thou badest me : arise and sit and eat of that which I have caught, father, that thy soul may bless me."

(9) "Since I was glorified like this once before, why do you hold me back when I am eager to go? After my labor you have made me stay with you another eighteen days because of the parables. For some people it was enough to listen to the teaching and understand 'The Shepherds,' 'The Seed,' 'The Building,' 'The Lamps of the Young Women,' 'The Wage of the Workers,' and 'The Silver Coins and the Woman.'

(26) And he said : " Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me, father? " and Isaac answered and said unto Esau : " Behold, I have made him thy lord, Aad all his brethren have I given to him for servants, And with plenty of corn and wine and oil have I strengthened him : And what now shall I do for thee, my son ? "

(5) He said, "I tell you the truth, no one will ever enter the kingdom of heaven because I ordered it, but rather because you yourselves are filled. Leave James and Peter to me that I may fill them."

(8) But seeing somewhat is lent me from the Grace of the Power [or divine Virtue] of God, that I might know the Way to Paradise; and seeing it behoves every one to work the Works of God, in which he stands; of which God will require an Account from every one, what he has done in the Labour of his Day's Work in this World; and will require the Work (which he gave every one to do) with Increase, and will not have them empty; or else he will have that unprofitable Servant to be bound Hand and Foot, and cast into Darkness; where he must be fain to work, yet in the Anguish, and in the Forgetting of the Daylabour which was given him to do here, [or of the Talent which he had received here,] wherein he was found an unprofitable Servant; therefore I will not neglect my Day-labour, but will labour as much as I can on the Way.

(14) And He said unto him : " This (man) will not be thy heir, but one that will come out of thine own bowels ; he will be thine heir."

(31) And in the morning Jacob told his father Isaac the vow which he had vowed to the Lord, and the vision which he had seen, and thathe had built an altar, and that everything was ready for the sacrifice to be made before tiic Lord as he had vowed, and thathe had come to set him on an ass.

(12) For he stood forty Days in the Temptation in the Wilderness, where there was no Bread nor Drink, then came the Tempter, and would have brought him from Obedience, and said, He should out of the Stones make Bread; which was nothing else, but that he should leave the heavenly Bread, (which Man receives in Faith and in strong Confidence in God,) and put his Imagination into the Spirit of this World, and live therein.

(37) And he said unto them " Because I sold my birthright to Jacob for a small mess of lentils ; and on the day my father sent me to hunt and catch and bring him something thathe should eat and bless me, he came with guile and brought my father food and drink, and my father blessed him and put me under his hand.

(18) And he came to a well of water, and he said to his young men, " Abide ye here with the ass, and I and the lad shall go (yonder), and when we have worshipped we shall come again to you."

(5) And the expression, "Ye have sold yourselves to your sins," agrees with what is said above: "Every one, then, who committeth sin is a slave; and the slave abideth not in the house for ever. But if the Son shall make you free, then shall ye be free, and the truth shall make you free."

(16) "Thou hast supposed iniquity,' He says, " [in imagining] that I will be like to thee." But "it is enough for the disciple to become as the Master," saith the Master. To the likeness of God, then, he that is introduced into adoption and the friendship of God, to the just inheritance of the lords and gods is brought; if he be perfected, according to the Gospel, as the Lord Himself taught.

(59) And you see clearly, that the wicked Pharisees and Scribes put these Things upon him; for these Things did not happen to him for nothing, or without Cause; for it was of Necessity to be so; for the Pharisees, Scribes, and Rulers, had put that in his Dish for him, which he must eat. Or shall we be silent? We must tell it, though it should cost us our Life.

(17) Here will the Prince and Arch-Shepherd pronounce his Sentence, saying to the kGodly;i Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom that has been prepared for you from the Beginning; I have been hungry, thirsty, naked, sick, in Prison and Misery, and you have fed me, given me Drink, clothed me, comforted me, and visited me, and have come and helped me in my Misery, therefore enter into eternal Joys. And they will answer, Lord, when have we seen thee hungry, thirsty, naked, in Prison, or in Misery, and have served thee? And he will say, What you have done to the least of these my Brethren, you have done that to me. And to the Wicked he will say, Away from me, ye Cursed, into the eternal Fire; for I have been hungry, thirsty, naked, in Prison, and in Misery, and you have never ministered unto me. And they will answer, Lord, when have we seen thee so, and not ministered to thee? And he will say, What you have not done to the least of these my poor Brethren, that you have not done to me; and they must depart from him.
