(20) And so it fell out, that every one would get the greatest Conflux of People he could, that he might be esteemed by most People; and these Lip-Christians did so multiply, that the sincere hearty Desire to God was left, and they only looked upon the Lip-priests, who did nothing but cause Strife and Contentions; and they all vapoured and boasted of their own Art and Skill which they had learned in the Schools and Universities, and cried, Look here is Christ, come running hither, thus and thus has Paid written; and another says, Come hither, here is Christ, thus and thus has Peter written; he was the Disciple of Christ, and had the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, this cannot be amiss; they do but deceive you, follow after me.

(25) Peter said to him, Since you have explained everything to us, tell us this also: What is the sin of the world?

(12) And these words he spake to his two brothers, and they were angry with him and he kept silent.

(1) Peter said: "My Lord, let the women cease to question, in order that we also may question." Jesus said unto Mary and the women: "Give opportunity to your men brethren, that they also may question." Peter answered and said: "My Lord, a robber and thief, whose sin is this persistently, when he cometh out of the body, what is his chastisement?"

(60) And he said to me: 'Thou son of man, herein thou dost seek to know what is hidden.'

(8) “Come not against me; thou who comest without being called, and who art unknown.”

(1) [paragraph continues] "My Lord, we will not endure this woman, for she taketh the opportunity from us and hath let none of us speak, but she discourseth many times." And Jesus answered and said unto his disciples: "Let him in whom the power of his spirit shall seethe, so that he understandeth what I say, come forward and speak. But now, Peter, I see thy power in thee, that it understandeth the solution of the mystery of the repentance which Pistis Sophia hath uttered. Now, therefore, Peter, speak the thought of her repentance in the midst of thy brethren."

(5) Then in one word he asks us, "Whose is the world, and all that is in the world? Are they not God's? " Wherefore Peter says, that the Lord said to the apostles: "If any one of Israel then, wishes to repent, and by my name to believe in God, his sins shall be forgiven him, after twelve years. Go forth into the world, that no one may say, We have not heard."

(6) Levi answered and said to Peter, Peter you have always been hot tempered.

(1) Peter responded to these comments and said, "Sometimes you urge us on toward the kingdom of heaven, but at other times you turn us away, master. Sometimes you encourage us, draw us toward faith, and promise us life, but at other times you drive us away from the kingdom of heaven."

(18) And I stood before him, and before the prince of the Mast£ma,f and the Lord said, " Bid him not to lay his hand on the lad, nor to do anything to him, for I have shown thathe feareth the Lord."

(6) I know not a Word of Power to whose utterance I listen

(1) "I know not if thou art a moon or an idol, I know not what service to pay thee, Thou art not apart from me, yet, strange to say, I know not where I am, or where thou art. I know not wherefore thou art dragging me, Now embracing me, and now wounding me!" That wine of God is gained from that minstrel, Both of these have one and the same name in speech, Men's bodies are like pitchers with closed mouths; Beware, till you see what is inside them.

(31) But he who is able to renounce them shows that he is from the generation of the Son of Man, (and) has power to accuse them. But he who has found the life-giving word, and he who has come to know the Father of Truth, has come to rest; he has ceased seeking, having found. And when he found, he became silent. (2) It came to pass then, when the First Mystery had finished speaking these words unto the disciples, that Mary came forward and said: "My Lord, my mind is ever understanding, at every time to come forward and set forth the solution of the words which she hath uttered; but I am afraid of Peter, because he threatened me and hateth our sex." And when she had said this, the First Mystery said unto her: "Every one who shall be filled with the spirit of light to come forward and set forth the solution of what I say,--no one shall be able to prevent him. Now, therefore, O Mary, set forth then the solution of the words which Pistis Sophia hath uttered." Then Mary answered and said unto the First Mystery in the midst of the disciples: "My Lord, concerning the solution of the words which Pistis Sophia hath uttered, thus hath thy light-power prophesied aforetime through David:

(5) Then Mary wept and said to Peter, My brother Peter, what do you think? Do you think that I have thought this up myself in my heart, or that I am lying about the Savior?

(1) "Who is this one that goes about our mountain, Or ever Death has given him power of flight, And opes his eyes and shuts them at his will?" "I know not who, but know he's not alone; Ask him thyself, for thou art nearer to him, And gently, so that he may speak, accost him." Thus did two spirits, leaning tow'rds each other, Discourse about me there on the right hand; Then held supine their faces to address me. And said the one: "O soul, that, fastened still Within the body, tow'rds the heaven art going, For charity console us, and declare Whence comest and who art thou; for thou mak'st us As much to marvel at this grace of thine As must a thing that never yet has been." And I: "Through midst of Tuscany there wanders A streamlet that is born in Falterona, And not a hundred miles of course suffice it; From thereupon do I this body bring. To tell you who I am were speech in vain, Because my name as yet makes no great noise." "If well thy meaning I can penetrate With intellect of mine," then answered me He who first spake, "thou speakest of the Arno."

(74) He said, "O Lord, there are many around the drinking trough, but there is nothing in the cistern."

(5) He said, "I tell you the truth, no one will ever enter the kingdom of heaven because I ordered it, but rather because you yourselves are filled. Leave James and Peter to me that I may fill them."

(104) Thou shouldst not think that God at that time did speak in that way as men do, and that it is but a weak, impotent word, like man's word.
