(258) 308 To say: N. is Osiris in a dust-storm. 308 His abomination is the earth; N. has not entered into Geb, 308 that he might be destroyed; nor has he slept in his house on earth, 308 that his bones might be broken. His wounds are effaced: 308 N. has purified himself with the eye of Horus; his wound is effaced by the two mourners of Osiris; 308 N. has let the running (of his wound) flow to the ground at u. 309 It is his sister, the lady of P, who wept for him. 309 N. is on his way to heaven; N. is on his way to heaven; on the wind; on the wind. 309 He is not hindered; there is no one by whom he is hindered. 309 N., he is "on his own," the eldest of the gods. 310 His bread comes on high with (that of) R`; 310 his offering comes out of Nun. 310 N. is one who comes again; 310 he goes, he comes with R`. 310 His houses are visited by him. 311 N. seizes kas; he frees kas; 311 he covers up evil; he abolishes evil. 311 N. spends the day; he spends, the night, while he appeases the two choppers in Wn.w. 311 Nothing opposes his foot; nothing restrains his heart.

(23) 16 Osiris, carry off all those who hate N., who speak evilly against his name. 16 Thot, go, carry off him who has injured Osiris. Bring him who speaks evilly against the name of N. 16 Get him into thy hand. To say four times: Do not separate thyself from him. 16 Take care that thou be not separated from him. A libation.

(11) You are hidden, you are a world of knowledge, you know that those who are of the One are from shadow.

(10) I am the punishment of those that chastise and the statesmanship of those that conquer. Of secret things I am silence, and of the wise I am the wisdom.

(7) I am the savour of waters, Ο son of Kunti, the radiance of the sun and moon; I am the syllable Om in all the Vedas, the sound in ether, the manliness in man.

(14) His is Grehma ; aye, his! And to (oppose) Thee he will establish the Kavis and (their) scheming plans. Their deeds of power are but deceits since they have come as an aid to the wicked , and since he has been (falsely) said (to be set) to conquer the Kine , he who shall kindle that (very) help of grace which removes our death afar, (and lightens Thy saving flame).

(12) You honor me and whisper against me. You, the vanquished, judge those who vanquish you before they judge you, because in you the judge and partiality exist. If you are condemned by one, who will acquit you? If acquitted by him, who will arrest you? What is in you is outside, and one who fashions you on the outside shapes you inside. What you see outside you see within you. It is visible and your garment. Hear me, hearers, and find out about my words, you who know me. I am the hearing all can reach; I am speech undecipherable. I am the name of the sound and the sound of the name. I am the sign of the letter and the designation of the division. I . . . light . . . great power . . . will not move the name . . . to the one who created me. I will speak his name.

(4) I am knowledge and ignorance. I am shame and fearlessness. I am shameless and ashamed. I am strength and fear. I am war and peace. Hear what I say. I am the disgraced and the grand being. Consider my poverty and wealth. Don't be arrogant when I am cast down on the earth, and you will find me in those who are to come. Don't stare at me lying on a dung heap. Don't run off and cast me away. In the kingdoms you will find me. Don't stare when I am cast with the disgraced in the most sordid places or laugh at me. Don't throw me out among those violently slaughtered. I am compassionate and cruel.

(9) I am the Father of this universe, the Mother, the Sustainer, and the Grandsire. I am the knowable, the purifier, and the syllable Om. I am also the Rik, the Sāman, and the Yajus.

(6) He is lord of the worlds beneath that (the self in the eye), and of all the wishes of men. Therefore all who sing to the vînâ (lyre), sing him, and from him also they obtain wealth.

(6) Full of crime (your leader) has desired to destroy us, wherefore he is famed, (and his doctrine is declared); but if this be so of these, then in the same manner, O Ahura! Thou possessest (because Thou knowest) the true (teachings) in Thy memory . And in Thy kingdom and Thy Righteous Order I will establish Thy precepts (in Thy name) .

SECOND SERIES IN PRAISE OF NUT,

(1) I was sent out from the power and have come to you who study me and am found by you who seek me. Look at me, you who study me, and you who hear, hear me. You waiting for me, take me into yourselves. Don't banish me from your vision. Don't let hatred enter your voice against me or let anger enter your hearing. In no place, in no time, be unknowing of me. Be alert. Don't be ignorant of me.

(10) I hold as true all that You have said to me, Ο Keśava. Verily, neither the gods nor the demons, Ο Lord, know Your manifestations.

(102) Thou know st Him not. Now He appears as fire, Dread force; as water now; and now as gloom; And in the beasts is dimly shadowed forth, In wind, and cloud, in lightning, thunder, rain; And minister to Him the seas and rocks, Each fountain and the water's floods and streams.

(65) Here the spirit of our kingdom for the third time citeth you, together with your prince Lucifer, whom you defend and justify, before the final Court of Justice for criminal malefactors; give in your answer there.

(5) You are a superior One, first shadow of the holy father, light from light.

Look at its wall which gleams like copper(?), inspect its inner wall, the likes of which no one can equal! Take hold of the threshold stone--it dates from ancient times! Go close to the Eanna Temple, the residence of Ishtar, such as no later king or man ever equaled!
