(3) I answered and said to him, "Master, do not mention to us the cross and death, for they are far from you."

(1) I answered and said to him, "Master, we can obey you if you wish, for we have forsaken our fathers and our mothers and our villages, and followed you. Give us the means not to be tempted by the evil devil."

(9) He answered, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.

(5) To cure him of the fever of his pride. Counsel he asked of me, and I was silent, Because his words appeared inebriate. And then he said: 'Be not thy heart afraid; Henceforth I thee absolve; and thou instruct me How to raze Palestrina to the ground. Heaven have I power to lock and to unlock, As thou dost know; therefore the keys are two, The which my predecessor held not dear.' Then urged me on his weighty arguments There, where my silence was the worst advice; And said I: 'Father, since thou washest me Of that sin into which I now must fall, The promise long with the fulfilment short Will make thee triumph in thy lofty seat.' Francis came afterward, when I was dead, For me; but one of the black Cherubim Said to him: 'Take him not; do me no wrong; He must come down among my servitors, Because he gave the fraudulent advice From which time forth I have been at his hair; For who repents not cannot be absolved, Nor can one both repent and will at once, Because of the contradiction which consents not.'

(1) Then I asked him, "Master, can we prophesy to those who ask us to prophesy to them? There are many who bring a request to us and look to us to hear our pronouncement."

(35) And I swear unto thee that I shall love him, and not desire evil against him all the days of mv life but good only." And he sware unto her regarding all this matter.

(7) "Straighten thy legs, and upward raise thee, brother," He answered: "Err not, fellow-servant am I With thee and with the others to one power. If e'er that holy, evangelic sound, Which sayeth 'neque nubent,' thou hast heard, Well canst thou see why in this wise I speak. Now go; no longer will I have thee linger, Because thy stay doth incommode my weeping, With which I ripen that which thou hast said. On earth I have a grandchild named Alagia, Good in herself, unless indeed our house Malevolent may make her by example, And she alone remains to me on earth."

“My God, my God, why, lord, have you forsaken me?” He spoke these words on the cross, for he had left that place.

(37) And he closed the gates of the tower ; and he stood on the battle- ments and spake to his brother Esau and said, " Noble is the comfort wherewith thou hast come to comfort me for my wife who hath died. Is this the oath that thou didst swear to thy father and again to thy mother before they died? Thou hast broken the oath, and on the moment that thou didst swear to thy father wast thou condemned."

(10) Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said,

(18) And I stood before him, and before the prince of the Mast£ma,f and the Lord said, " Bid him not to lay his hand on the lad, nor to do anything to him, for I have shown thathe feareth the Lord."

(27) Now, therefore, my son, obey my voice, and arise and flee thou to Laban, my brother, to Haran, and tarry with him a few days until thy brother's anger turneth away, and he remove his anger from thee, and forget all that thou hast done ; then I will send and fetch thee from thence."

(13) And they besought me to draw up a petition for them that they might find forgiveness, and to read their petition in the presence of the Lord of heaven.

(35) And he said : " I will do everything that thou sayest unto me, and I will not refuse thy petition."

(12) I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me,

(2) The high priest arose, and asked Jesus, Answerest thou nothing? But Jesus held his peace, and answered nothing.

(36) Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

(4) I have not done what thou hatest, the command (which I obey) is that which thy ka loveth, I have not transgressed it

(11) He said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him,

(8) And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?
