(24) What dost thou suppose the Master of the house will say to thee, when he shall require and demand his talent with which he entrusted thee, thou having buried it in the earth? Will he not say, Thou perverse wicked servant, why didst thou not put my talent out upon use, and then I could have demanded the principal and the interest or profit?

(7) "And once again I appeal to you. I am disclosed to you as I am building a house useful to you when you find shelter in it, and it will support your neighbors' house when theirs threatens to collapse.

(3) Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig: to beg I am ashamed. I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.

(2) My son, throw every robber out of your gates. Guard all your gates with torches, which are the words, and you will acquire through all these things a quiet life. But he who will not guard these things will become like a city which is desolate, since it has been captured. All kinds of wild beasts have trampled upon it, for thoughts which are not good are evil wild beasts. And your city will be filled with robbers, and you will not be able to acquire peace, but only all kinds of savage wild beasts. The Wicked One, who is a tyrant, is lord over these. While directing this, he (the Wicked One) is beneath the great mire. The whole city, which is your soul, will perish.

For there are two guardians, shame and fear, mighty to prevent him: shame, which makes men refrain from laying hands on

(12) No man also seweth a piece of new cloth upon an old garment; else the new piece that filleth it up agreeth not with the old: it taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.
