(24) No, the Father is not so, but he is an All-mighty, All-wise, All-knowing, All-seeing, All-hearing, All-smelling, All-feeling, All-tasting God, who in himself is Meek, Friendly, Gracious, Merciful, and full of Joy, yea Joy itself.

(60) And the Hardening is not so wholly in the Birth, that the Soul (from the Mother' Womb) should be quite dead to God, or that God did not desire it. The Anger is in the Flowing [Working or Boiling] of the Father, and the Father is God indeed, and generates his dear Heart and Love (in the Breaking of the Gate in the Habitation) out of himself. Should he then be at odds with himself, because his Anger is under the Root of his Love? Should he be at Enmity against himself? his Anger is his Strength and Omnipotence, and consuming Fire; and his Heart in the Love is his Meekness; and so now, that which approaches and enters into his Anger, is captivated in the Anger.

(174) O thou miserable Man, turn Convert, the heavenly Father has stretched forth both his Arms, and calls thee; do but come, he will take thee into his Love. Art thou not his Child? He does love thee. If he did hate thee, he must be at odds with himself. O no, it is not so: there is nothing in God but a merciful, amiable Love, and bright Glory.

(4) Now, people say when they commit sin, that they do not intend to do so always; they intend to turn away from sin. That is just as though a man were to kill himself and suppose that he could make himself alive again by his own strength. That is, however, impossible; but to turn from sin by one's own power and come to God is still much more impossible. Therefore, whosoever is to turn from sin and come to God in His heavenly kingdom, must be drawn by the heavenly Father with the might of His divine power.

The Father also draws the Son who comes to help us with His grace, by stimulating our free will to turn away from, and hate sin, which has drawn us aside from God, and from the immutable goodness of the Godhead. Then, if she is willing, He pours the gift of His grace into the soul, which renounces all her misery and sin, and all her works become living. Now, this grace springs from the centre of Godhead and the Father's heart, and flows perpetually, nor ever ceases, if the soul obeys His everlasting love. Therefore He saith in the prophets: "I have loved thee with an everlasting love, therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee." Out of the overflow of His universal love He desires to draw all to Himself, and to His Only-begotten Son, and to the Holy Ghost in the joy of the heavenly kingdom.

Now, we should know that before our Lord Jesus Christ was born, the Heavenly Father drew men with all His might for five thousand, two hundred years; and yet, as far as we know, brought not one into the heavenly kingdom. So, when the Son saw that the Father had thus strongly drawn men and even wearied Himself, and yet not succeeded, He said to the Father: "I will draw them with the cords of a man." It was as though He said, "I see well, Father, that Thou with all Thy might, canst not succeed, therefore will I myself draw them with the cords of a man."

(13) But in the Father all Powers are mild, soft, like Heaven, very full of Joy, for all the Powers triumph in one another, and their Voice or Sound rises up from Eternity to Eternity.

(56) For behold, the Father is the original Essence of all Essences. And if now the second Principle did not break forth and spring up in the Birth of the Son, then the Father would be a dark Valley. And thus you see, that the Son (who is the Heart, the Love, the Brightness and the mild Rejoicing of the Father,) [in whom he is well-pleased,] opens another Principle in his Birth, and makes the angry and wrathful Father (as I may say, as to the Originality of the first Principle) reconciled, pleased, loving, and as I may say, merciful; and he is another [Manner of] Person than the Father; for in his a Center there is nothing else but mere Joy, Love, and Pleasure. And yet you may see that the Holy Ghost proceeds from the Father and the Son, for when the Heart or Light of God is generated in the Father, then there springs up (in the Kindling of the Light in the fifth Form) out of the Water-Source in the Light, a very pleasant sweet smelling and sweet tasted Spirit; and this is that Spirit which in the Original was the bitter Sting or Prickle in the Harshness [or Tartness;] and that makes now in this Water-Source many thousand of the Water.

(63) But now when the Father kindled himself in the Body of the Sharpness, he did not by that means kindle the holy Source, wherein his most loving Heart generates itself, and so thereupon his Heart should sit in the Source of Wrath. No! that is impossible that it should be, for the sharp Birth cannot apprehend the holy and pure Birth, but the holy and pure presses quite through the sharp, and generates to itself a new Body, which stands again in Meekness.

(161) For such as the Father was, such was the Son also, viz. a dark, astringent, cold, hard, bitter, hot, sour, stinking Fountain or Source, and the Love stood in the bitter Quality, in its penetrating Taste and Relish, and became an Enmity against all the qualifying or fountain Spirits in the Body of the high-minded arrogant King.

(1) Our Lord Jesus Christ hath in the Gospel spoken with His own blessed lips these words, which signify, "No man can come to Me unless My Father draw him." In another place He says, "I am in the Father and the Father in Me." Therefore whoever cometh to the Son cometh to the Father. Further, He saith, "I and the Father are One. Therefore whomsoever the Father draweth, the Son draweth likewise." St Augustine also saith, "The works of the Holy Trinity are inseparable from each other." Therefore the Father draweth to the Son, and the Son draweth to the Holy Ghost, and the Holy Ghost draweth to the Father and the Son; and each Person of the Trinity, when He draweth to the Two Others, draweth to Himself, because the Three are One.

The Father draweth with the might of His power, the Son draweth with His unfathomable wisdom, the Holy Ghost draweth with His love. Thus we are drawn by the Sacred Trinity with the cords of Power, Wisdom and Love, when we are drawn from an evil thing to a good thing, and from a good thing to a better, and from a better thing to the best of all. Now the Father draws us from the evil of sin to the goodness of His grace with the might of His measureless power, and He needs all the resources of His strength in order to convert sinners, more than when He was about to make heaven and earth, which He made with His own power without help from any creature. But when He is about to convert a sinner, He always needs the sinner's help. "He converts thee not without thy help," as St Augustine says.

(13) But, having assumed sensitive flesh, He came to show man what was possible through obedience to the commandments. Being, then, the Father's power, He easily prevails in what He wishes, leaving not even the minutest point of His administration unattended to. For otherwise the whole would not have been well executed by Him.

(38) From the Son, who is the Father’s Heart in all his Powers, the Eternal Joy rises and springs in all the Powers of the Father, such a Joy, as no Eye has seen, nor Ear heard, neither has ever entered into the Heart of any Man, as St. Paul saith. [1 Cor. 2. 9.]

(54) Now thou canst not make of this one only Father, who is both angry and also full of Love, two Persons, but he is one only Father, which continually generates his heartily beloved Son, and from both these the Holy Ghost goes forth continually. Observe the Depth in the Center.

(9) But here thou must not think, that the Powers in God the Father are in such wise, or qualify in such a corrupt Manner and Kind as in Man, which Lord Lucifer has so brought to pass; but it is all very lovely, pleasant, delicious and joyful, very gentle, and meek, or mild.

(55) The Father is the one only Being, who himself is ALL, who continually generates his heartily beloved Son from Eternity, and in both of them the Holy Ghost is continually standing in the Flash, wherein the Life is generated.

(35) For when Men speak of the Mercy of God the Father, they speak of his Power, or his Fountain: Spirits of the Qualities which are in the Salitter, out of which his most richly loving Heart or Son is generated. Observe here,

(12) Yet we have not two Fathers, but only One: For Heaven is made by his Power, and the Stars out of his Wisdom, which is in him, and proceeds forth from him. Of the Substance and Property of the Father.

(77) Now in the whole Deep of the Father, externally without the Son, there is Nothing but the manifold and unmeasurable or unfathomable Power of the Father.
