(29) Every Star has a several peculiar Property, which thou mayest perceive by the curious Ornament of the budding blossoming Earth. And the Creator has therefore rebuilt and revived again the old kindled Body into so many and various Powers, that through this old Life, in the Wrath, such a new Life might generate itself therein, through the Closure of Heaven, that that new Life might have all the Powers and Operations that ever the old had before the Times of Wrath, that it might qualify, mix, or unite with the pure Deity distinct from this World, and that it might be one holy God, together with the Deity without, distinct from this World.

(3) Therefore hath He made man of soul and body,—that is, of an eternal and a mortal nature; so that an animal thus blended can content his dual origin,—admire and worship things in heaven, and cultivate and govern things on earth. By mortal things I do not mean the water or the earth [themselves], for these are two of the [immortal] elements that nature hath made subject unto men,—but [either] things that are by men, or [that are] in or from them ; such as the cultivation of the earth itself, pastures, [and] buildings, harbours, voyagings, intercommunications, mutual services, which are the firmest bonds of men between themselves and that part of the Cosmos which consists [indeed] of water and of earth, [but is] the Cosmos’ terrene part,—which is preserved by knowledge and the use of arts and sciences; without which [things] God willeth not Cosmos should be complete. In that necessity doth follow what seems good to God; performance waits upon His will. Nor is it credible that that which once hath pleased Him, will become unpleasing unto God; since He hath known both what will be, and what will please Him, long before.

(27) that this new Birth or Geniture might be accomplished, whether the Devil will or no, the Creator has therefore in the Body of this World generated himself, as it were creaturely, in his qualifying or fountain Spirits, and all the Stars are nothing else but God's Powers, and the whole Body of this World consists in the seven qualifying or fountain Spirits.

(61) If a Man will find out the Mystery, and deepest Ground; he must diligently and exactly view and consider the Creation of this World, the Government or Dominion, and Order or Ordinance, as also the Qualities of the Stars, and the Elements.

(3) It is by Spirit that all things are governed in the Cosmos, and made quick,—Spirit made subject to the Will of Highest God, as though it were an engine or machine. So far, then, [only] let Him be by us conceived,—as Him who is conceivable by mind alone, who is called Highest God, the Ruler and Director of God Sensible, —of Him who in Himself includes all Space, all Substance, and all Matter, of things producing and begetting, and all whatever is, however great it be. XVII

(134) Whereby in the heavenly Pomp always such fair beauteous Forms, Ideas, Figures, and Vegetations spring up, as also various Colours and Fruits; and this the qualifying or fountain Spirits of God do in God, as a holy Play, Sport or Scene. Now behold!

(59) O dear Man, view thyself for a while in this Looking-Glass; thou wilt find it more largely to be read of concerning the Creation of Man. This I set down here for this very Cause, that thou mightest the better understand the Power of Creation, and that thou mightest the better conceive, and fit thyself for this Spirit, and so learn to understand its Language. The open Gate of the Earth. Now it might be asked: From or out of what Matter or Power and Virtue then did the Grass, Herbs, and Trees spring forth? What manner of Substance or Condition or Constitution has this Kind of Creature? Answer.

(24) Now the Purpose of God was, to make a curious excellent angelical Host or Army out of the Earth, and all Manner of Ideas, Forms, or Images. For in and upon that all should spring, and generate themselves anew, as we see in mineral Ores, Stones, Trees, Herbs and Grass, and all manner of Beasts, after a heavenly Image or Form.
