(3) And the Lord our God caused a deep sleep to fall upon him, and he slept, and He took for the woman one rib from amongst his ribs, and this rib was the origin of the woman from amongst his ribs, and He built up the flesh in its stead, and built the woman.

(30) And so God, in his Sleep, made the Woman for him out of himself, by which he must now generate his Kingdom, for now it could not otherwise be. And when he awaked, he saw her, and took her to him and said; This is Flesh of my Flesh, and Bone of my Bone; for Adam was (in his Sleep) become quite another Image; for God had permitted the Spirit of this World in him to make his Tincture weary to Sleep.

(7) When he had lifited up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said,

(5) The second paragraph seems to be spoken by the god, the first and third being from the deceased

(6) And lo, though he be buried in the deep deep Grave, and bowed down to the region of annihilation, he is glorified there

(2) So saying, [the reader will] impress it. If [the deceased be] of the common folk, say, Meditate upon the Great Compassionate Lord.

(12) When the Hierarch has finished these things, he places the body in an honourable chamber, with other holy bodies of the same rank. For if, in soul and body, the man fallen asleep passed a life dear to God, there will be honoured, with the devout soul, the body also, which contended with it throughout the devout struggles. Hence the Divine justice gives to it, together with its own body, the retributive inheritances, as companion and participator in the devout, or the contrary, life. Wherefore, the Divine institution of sacred rites bequeaths the supremely Divine participations to them both--to the soul, indeed, in pure contemplation and in science of the things being done, and to the body, by sanctifying the whole man, as in a figure with the most Divine Muron, and the most holy symbols of the supremely Divine Communion, sanctifying the whole man, and announcing, by purifications of the whole man, that his resurrection will be most complete.

(4) Saith the Spirit, That they may rest from their labors: and their works do follow them.

(41) Here God saw his Fall, and that he could not stand, because Adam's Imagination and Lust was so eager after the Kingdom of this World, and after the earthly Fruit, and that Adam would not generate a perfect paradisical Man out of himself, but an infected, [poisoned Man,] according to the Lust, and would fall into Corruptibility. And the Text in Moses sounds further very right, thus; And God let a deep Sleep fall upon Man, and he slept, [or fell asleep.]

(55) And after that the Head of Days repented and said: 'In vain have I destroyed all who dwell on the earth.'

(172) If I weep, I cease to praise and magnify thee." He spoke thus, and then fell to weeping, So many "Ahs" and "Alases" proceeded from his heart, Talking sadly, weeping sadly, smiling sadly, Men and women, small and great, were all assembled. The whole city wept in concert with him; Then Heaven said to Earth, "If you never saw a resurrection-day, see it here!" Reason was amazed, saying, "What love, what ecstasy! Is his separation more wondrous, or his reunion?"

(5) And God looked upon the earth, and behold it was corrupt, and all flesh had corrupted its orders, and all that were upon the earth had wrought all manner of evil before His eyes.
