(122) O no: But I must write in part or by pieces, for the Reader's better understanding, that he might thereby apprehend somewhat, and so attain the sense and meaning thereof.

(36) But as the work advances, we shall in each section, noting the figures of speech mentioned above by the prophet, exhibit the gnostic mode of life, showing it systematically according to the rule of the truth.

(1) AND for this, that thou shalt be able better to wit how they shall be conceived ghostly, these words that be spoken bodily, therefore I think to declare to thee the ghostly bemeaning of some words that fall to ghostly working. So that thou mayest wit clearly without error when thy ghostly work is beneath thee and without thee, and when it is within thee and even with thee, and when it is above thee and under thy God.

This is what thy light-power prophesied aforetime through Moses: 'By two or three witnesses shall every matter be established.' The three witnesses are Philip and Thomas and Matthew."

(105) No; but I speak in a corporeal or angelical or human way that the Reader may the better understand it, in such a manner as the angelical creatures were imaged or framed, and as it is in God everywhere universally.
