(49) But hear, thou simple mother, who bringest all the children into this world, who afterwards in their rising up are ashamed of thee and despise thee, and yet are thy children whom thou hast brought forth.

(25) And as thou hast refreshed thy mother's spirit during tmyt * ne» The womb of her that bare thee blesseth thee, [My affection] and my breasts bless thee And my mouth and my tongue praise thee greatly.

(41) Wherefore the claims of God predominate over the mother's, Whoso acknowledges not God's claims is a fool. He who made mother and breast and milk United mother to father also, despise Him not! O Lord, O Ancient of days, Thy mercies, Whether known to us or unknown, are all from Thee! Thou hast commanded, saying, "Remember thy God," Because God's claims are never exhausted! Since thou hast been led astray by faithless men, I am free from error and all faithlessness;

(25) Fear not, mother; be assured that I shall do thy will and walk in upright- ness, and not corrupt my ways for ever." II. And thereupon she lifted up her face to heaven and extended the fingers of her hands, and opened her mouth and blessed the Most High God, who had created the heaven and the earth, and she gave Him thanks and praise.

(18) Hail to thee, Amemhet. I have come to see the gods within thee

(41) Thy mother Isis embraceth thee, seeing in thee her son, as the Lord of Terror, the All-Powerful, as he setteth in the Land of Life at night

(60) For this is the eternal mother of nature, of which heaven, earth, stars, elements, angels, devils, men, beasts, and all have their being; and therein ALL stands.

(3) Then the god who created us created a son from himself and Eve, your mother. . . . I knew a sweet desire for your mother. And the vigor of our eternal knowledge was destroyed in us, and weakness pursued us. The days of our life were few. I knew that I had come under the authority of death.

(8) Come, come, for the father is uttering the judgment of Maāt

(98) But through the third mother they cannot constantly or permanently shine, for the third mother stands in the house of darkness; but they often cast a glimpse upon the third mother, even as if it lightened, whereby the third mother many times becometh very longing, and rejoiceth highly, but is soon bolted up again by the fierceness of God's wrath.

(60) 'Come, O son, I am thy mother,' Does the babe answer, 'O mother, show a proof That I shall find comfort from taking thy milk'? In the hearts of every sect that has a taste of the truth When the prophets raise their cry to the outward ear, The souls of each sect bow in devotion within; Because never in this world hath the soul's ear That poor man in that strange sweet voice Recognizes the voice of God, 'Verily I am nigh.'"

(37) Adoration to thee, O Râ; Adoration to thee, O Tmu, at thy coming in thy beauty, in thy manifestation, in thy mastery

(151) I knew of myself what ye thought, But I desired that ye should speak it; As this boasting of yours is very improper, So shall my mercy be shown to prevail over my wrath: O angels, in order to show forth that prevailing, I inspired that pretension to cavil and doubt; If you say your say, and I forbear to punish you, My mercy equals that of a hundred fathers and mothers; Their mercy is as the foam of the sea of my mercy; It is mere foam of waves, but the sea abides ever!

(92) 'And now, my son Methuselah, call to me all thy brothers And gather together to me all the sons of thy mother; For the word calls me, And the spirit is poured out upon me, That I may show you everything That shall befall you for ever.'

(16) But return, my son, to your first father, God, and Wisdom, your Mother, from whom you came into being from the very first in order that you might fight against all of your enemies, the Powers of the Adversary.

(6) Shine thou upon me, oh gracious Power; as I draw nigh to the divine words which my ears shall hear in the Tuat; let no pollution of my mother be upon me; deliver me, protect me from him who closeth his eyes at twilight and bringeth to an end in darkness

(37) And when he saw John with his Mother under the Cross; he said, Behold, that is thy Mother; and to her he said, Behold, that is thy Son; and instantly that Disciple took her to him. His Mother signifies his eternal new Humanity, which he had P received in his Mother (viz. in the Holy Ternary) which we should take to us, and refresh ourselves with his Mother; and therefore he showed her to John, of which very much might be written; but this shall be explained in another Place.

(40) O Lord of the Soul Most Mighty, behold me; I come, raise thou me up that I may see the Tuat

(1) "Thou Virgin Mother, daughter of thy Son, Humble and high beyond all other creature, The limit fixed of the eternal counsel, Thou art the one who such nobility To human nature gave, that its Creator Did not disdain to make himself its creature. Within thy womb rekindled was the love, By heat of which in the eternal peace After such wise this flower has germinated. Here unto us thou art a noonday torch Of charity, and below there among mortals Thou art the living fountain-head of hope. Lady, thou art so great, and so prevailing, That he who wishes grace, nor runs to thee, His aspirations without wings would fly. Not only thy benignity gives succour To him who asketh it, but oftentimes Forerunneth of its own accord the asking. In thee compassion is, in thee is pity, In thee magnificence; in thee unites Whate'er of goodness is in any creature. Now doth this man, who from the lowest depth Of the universe as far as here has seen One after one the spiritual lives,

(153) O man! behold thyself herein, look before thee and behind thee, nothing is in vain.
